About Chief
Who I Am
My name is Ryan Johnson, but most know me as 420 Chief. After serving 20 years as a proud Navy Chief, I returned home to face a battle I was never trained for... chronic pain, anxiety, sleepless nights, and the heavy reliance on prescription meds and alcohol just to get by.
For years, I was trapped in a cycle of pills, alcohol, and bad decisions none of which truly healed me. Everything changed when I discovered cannabis. This plant helped me break free from alcohol and eliminate every prescription medication in my life. Cannabis saved my life. And I’m not alone.
Now, my mission is clear: to educate, advocate, and support veterans and anyone seeking natural healing through cannabis, music, and community.
What I Do
💨 420 Chief Podcast
I bring veterans onto the show to share their powerful journeys of healing through cannabis. Together, we break the stigma and reveal the life-changing impact of plant-based medicine.
🎗️ Break Stigmas (501c3 Nonprofit)
I founded Break Stigmas to bridge the gap between veterans and civilians and help get veterans out of isolation. Our nonprofit creates a safe space for education, advocacy, and real support for those searching for alternatives to pharmaceuticals and harmful substances.
📖 Strains for Pains
I authored "Strains for Pains," a cannabis review book designed to help people find the right strains for their unique needs—because healing should be accessible to all.
🎶 Vibin’ with Chief (Music Therapy Live)
Three times a week on TikTok, I host live music therapy sessions—bringing people together to vibe, connect, and heal through the power of music.
🚐 Veteran Meetups & Advocacy
I travel the country meeting veterans, sharing resources, and fighting for safe, affordable, and stigma-free access to cannabis. For many, cannabis isn’t just about recreation, it’s about survival. Current policies that restrict access and drive up costs are barriers to healing for countless veterans and patients. It’s time for change.
Join me in breaking stigmas and building a future where veterans and everyday people have the freedom to heal.
